同济大学岩土工程系教授,博士生导师,2007年3月完成培养博士生任务。退休后,协助弟子指导博士生和写书等工作。近50年多来一直从事岩土工程专业研究与教学工作。从上世纪60年代初始,先后在越南、澳大利亚、香港、美国、日本和新加坡,担任中国专家、访问教授、荣誉教授和正式教授。80年代末,接受日本文部省聘请一年的正式教授,讲授Advanced Soil Mechanics, Advanced Geotechnical Engineering , Engineering Geology三门课。在国外讲学和合作科研前后工作历时近六七年之久。名字相继载入《中国当代科技名人成就大典》、《中国当代教育名人传略》、《Dictionary of International Biography, England》和《5000 Personalities of the World, USA》。

下面是他在第二届桩与深基础国际峰会上的演讲概要:

Our dream is The load caused by wind on pile group of pile raft foundation with deep embedment must be ignored.
In the past over half of century the loading plate is considered as a rigid body, the following formula ( eccentric compression equation) have been used to calculate the load on pile groups:

The first term of Eq. (4) is an equal amount of the load for a non-centric axial load on the pile groups, i.e. total load divided by n, the second and third terms are the loads caused by the overturning moment from the wind load or earthquake including non-centric load of structure.
Therefore, piled raft foundation is obviously not a rigid body. Contrary, it is really an elastic body. Elastic body is the key point to study load on pile groups of piled raft foundation
Up to now, it has been recognized that the load on pile caused by wind is a main controlled factor in design of pile foundation.

There is no any effect on measured reinforcing steel stress in raft and contact (earth) pressure caused by wind load, shown in Fig.13 and Fig.14. According to calculated result the load caused by wind can be ignored.
In order to prove the effect of wind load on pile top, reinforced steel stress in raft and contact (earth) pressure, we were planning to take the vital short movie as proof during storm and Typhoon period.
Raft plate can not be considered as a rigid body;
Eq.(4) could not be used to calculate the load on pile for non-equal length of piles;
The theory on super-tall building-foundation interaction has an important significance for calculating the load on pile groups in design of piled raft foundation although now there is still no evident field data to prove the load on pile caused by wind.
